Community Information Centres


The Community Information Centre Project is a Government of India Scheme for “Setting-up of the State-of-art Computer Communications Infrastructure at each Block in the State”, which is a combination of PC based Citizen Kiosk with content enabling citizen centric services, e-governance, e-learning and e-commerce. It enables access to database containing wide range of information regarding agriculture marketing, disaster management, employment opportunities, public health etc. 

  • Prime Ministers’ scheme for development of IT at block level
  • A non-commercial venture except for levy of very nominal charges as are considered to be essentially required to make the project economically viable and otherwise self-sustaining in public interest
  • One Centre in each of 135 Blocks of J&K
  • Ministry of Communication & Information Technology (MCIT) is the implementing agency

  • Scheme sanctioned for 135 blocks
    • 60 Blocks in Phase-I
    • 75 Blocks in Phase-II
  • Citizen centric Services through IT interface
  • Government to Government Interface using high speed network

      As on date 132 CIC's out of 135 CIC's has been made functional
